POR MAR
El canal de entrada al Puerto de Cádiz tiene una anchura de 250 m., una longitud de 3.600 m. y un calado de 13 m. en bajamar viva equinoccial (BMVE). Su fondo está compuesto de fango, arena y rocas.
La boca de entrada a la dársena (orientación N.E.) tiene un ancho de 300 m. y un calado de BMVE de 13 m. Este mismo calado es el de los muelles de la Terminal y el de la dársena de reviro en lo que a dichos muelles se refiere.
El viento dominante en el Puerto de Cádiz (cuya situación es Longitud 06° 17`W Greenwich y Latitud 36° 31`N) es E.S.E. La máxima carrera de mareas alcanza 3,90 m. La cota de la Bajamar Viva Equinoccial (BVME respecto del cero del Puerto), es de 0,00 m. y la de la Pleamar Viva Equinoccial (PMVE) respecto del mismo factor es de 3,90 m.
POR TIERRA
CARRETERAS: Hay dos carreteras de acceso, la N-4 y la A-4 (Autopista). Ambos accesos, al confluir en Cádiz, se bifurcan en dos ramales: la carretera industrial (vehículos pesados) y la general de penetración a la ciudad (vehículos ligeros). El actual soterramiento de la vía del ferrocarril proporciona un tercer acceso amplio y directo a la ciudad y a su puerto.
El acceso a la terminal se lleva a cabo por una vía interior de doble circulación y anchura variable (entre 8 y 14 m.) que discurre a lo largo de la verja de cerramiento de la zona de servicio del puerto. Dentro de la Terminal existe una red de calles transversales de doble circulación.
FERROCARRIL: La Terminal está enlazada mediante un ramal de ferrocarril a la estación principal de la linea Madrid-Cádiz. Este ramal desemboca a la parte posterior de la Terminal, de forma que las operaciones de carga y descarga del tren se efectúan sin obstaculizar los movimientos de acarreo tierra/mar.
BY SEA
The entrance channel to the port of Cádiz is 250 metres wide, 3,600 m. long, 13 m. deep at low tide. The sea-bed is composed of mud, sand and rocks.
The entrance mouth (facing NE) IS 300 m. wide and 13 m. deep (low tide). This is the depth of the Terminal docks as well as the tacking basin for vessels using the Terminal.
The prevailing wind in the port of Cádiz (which is located at longitude 0 6º 17'W Greenwich and latitude 36º 32'N) is E.S.E. maximum tidal reach is 3,90 m. The height of low tide (BVME) referred to as the zero of the port is 0.00 m. and the height of high tide (PVME) for the same factor is 3,90.
BY LAND
ROADS: There are two entry roads, the N-IV and the A-4 (motorway), both which converge at the entrance to the city of Cádiz, then split into two points of entry: the industrial road for heavy goods vehicles and the general access road for light traffic which leads to the city centre. At the present time work is being carried out to re-route the railway underground and this, on its completion in one and a half years, will provide a third, wider, direct access road to the city and its port.
Access to the Terminal is gained by an internal dual carriageway varying between 8 and 14 m. in width, which runs parallel to the railings bordering the service area of the port. Within the Terminal there is a network of perpendicular streets for two-way traffic.
RAIL: The terminal is linked by a branch line to the main station of the line Madrid-Cádiz. This line is at present situated next to the Terminal so that rail operations of loadeing and unloading do not interfere with land to the sea transport operations.
AEROPUERTO
La comunicación aérea con Cádiz está servida por el Aeropuerto de Jerez, conectado con nuestra ciudad por las dos mencionadas vías de acceso: la Autopista Sevilla-Cádiz, en tramo Jerez-Cádiz (entrada Jerez Norte, a 37 Km. de nuestra capital) y la carretera nacional N-4 (a 55 km. de distancia). Bien directamente o vía Madrid-Jerez, tiene una adecuada comunicación aérea internacional.
AIR
As regards air communication, Cádiz, is served by Jerez Airport, linked to our city by the two access roads mentioned earlier: the Sevilla/Cádiz motorway, specifically the Jerez-Cádiz stretch (Jerez North junction, 37 Km. from Cádiz) and the N-IV (55 Km. from Cádiz). It has satisfactory international flight connections, either direct of Madrid-Jerez.
